An 18-person crew comprising of McKesson and NorthStar staff participated in the Dragon Boat Challenge on Saturday 6 July 2019, bringing the colour and buzz of sprint racing to Cork city centre. The race is in aid of Meitheal Mara, Cork’s community boatyard and nationally-accredited training centre. The organisation is dedicated to fostering and promoting maritime culture and seamanship through traditional currach and wooden boat building skills. Meitheal Mara provides training and development to those who are at risk of social exclusion, who are recovering from addiction and/or living with disabilities.
This is the 3rd year that McKesson and NorthStar have participated in this worthy charity event. After our first race against Amazon, there was a determined competitiveness to win this event! Following 3 races in total and reaching the semi-final against the Goldbergs/Idle Hour team, we were pipped at the post by a dragon head! All in all, the McKesson and NorthStar Team thoroughly enjoyed the race and the festivities on quay side. Next year we are determined to do more pre-race training and secure that trophy!
