This meeting was extra special as we also had former Olympian David Gillick in attendance.
After a refreshing break with delicious smoothies, fruit kebabs and ‘healthy’ cakes we were introduced to David Gillick. David is a former Olympic track and field athlete. He also won celebrity MasterChef Ireland. I must confess I had never heard of him but found his talk inspiring and motivating.
David ‘s whole career had been focused on getting around a track in just 44 seconds. This may sound a very short time but by getting us all chair running around a track he showed just how long 44 seconds can feel!
He then went on to elaborate that even if you dare to dream big the negative voice in your head can dismiss such dreams and demotivate you. The realisation that a dream or goal is great but will never come to fruition without a plan was a huge lesson for him and it is something that can be applied across all walks of life. A goal without a plan is just a wish!
Finally, he advised us to take just 44 seconds a day for ourselves as if we do not look after ourselves, we will not be much good for those around us.
