What prompted you to choose this course?
After finishing my college degree in accountancy and starting to work with the Shared Service team in McKesson, I got the opportunity to see up close how the various finance teams and departments worked and the different roles they play within the organisation. Having seen the work and what was required to take the next step in my career, I decided a professional accountancy qualification was something I wanted to pursue. I knew the process would be long and challenging but I received a lot of support from my McKesson team.
What value did you find the course/training brought to your role in McKesson?
Studying for my ACCA exams has helped me gain an insight into the different aspects of accountancy and how I can bring this into my own day to day activities. During my studies I took an interest in the commercial side of accountancy and while still completing my exams McKesson gave me the opportunity to move into a commercial role as a Financial Analyst in NorthStar. This gave me greater insight into the commercial side of the business and the opportunity work with different teams across McKesson.
How did McKesson/Northstar help in reaching your educational goals?
Both McKesson and NorthStar were very supportive with the course fees and the provision of study days. They enabled me to be fully committed to being successful in my exams and getting my qualification.
The people, both the leadership team and the people I work with on a daily basis, were very supportive and always had words of encouragement throughout the process.
