McKesson Cork
On March 8th, we celebrated International Women’s Day. March also commemorates Women in History month. We spoke with some of our female colleagues on how both McKesson and NorthStar has supported their careers in the areas of our societal impact, our innovation, best place to work and healthcare of the future.
“People often remark on the great culture in the McKesson Cork office and I’ve always felt supported and encouraged by my colleagues in Cork and further afield. Over the past 6 years, I’ve been very fortunate to work on global finance projects and make connections with colleagues all over the world! There is such a diverse skillset in McKesson, and I’ve found that people are very generous with their time and willing to share their learnings”. Maria Power, Legal Specialist.
Investing in our people has always been at the forefront of our corporate strategy. Justine Keohane, Accounts Receivable Analyst, reflects on the support she received through her decision to pursue further education. “As McKesson strive for excellence, they also support excellence. They supported my decision to further education which allows me to bring my learnings back to my workplace supporting the culture of innovation and continuous improvement”.
We were honoured to have our colleague Rebecca Lynch featured in the recent #ChooseToChallenge campaign across McKesson social channels. “I choose to challenge education and career limits. McKesson has enabled me, through mentorship and support, to discover and develop a new career path in Human Resources. In particular, my manager encouraged me to pursue a HR degree and facilitated my experience within the HR team”.
NorthStar Logistics Manager, Martha Scott reflects on the support both NorthStar and McKesson have shown her throughout her career. “McKesson [and NorthStar] nurture an environment where women can be brave, passionate, and yet respected, which are qualities that make some great leaders within our organisation”.
During our 20 years in Cork, we have built strong relationships within Women in Technology by partnering with local universities and research centres. We spoke with Software Engineer, Amy Garde on her experience of representing McKesson at such events. “It is exhilarating to be working for a company that values and supports women and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to represent and showcase these values during local Women in Tech webinars”. S.T.E.M is an area that McKesson Cork will continue to invest in so we can build better healthcare for the future.
With a unique culture, McKesson always strives to provide opportunities for our employees to expand their skills, gain new experiences, and showcase their talent across our many business units. “Through four moves with McKesson, including internationally, I’ve been able to see first-hand the value that diversity in thought brings to our business. In each McKesson location across the world, unique individuals come together every day with bright ideas and a passion to drive healthcare forward. No matter where I am, McKesson feels like home” Austin McCann, Director, International HR Business Partner.
Across Technology, Finance, HR and Supply Chain, McKesson Cork and NorthStar have and will continue to showcase the endless female talent within our organisation. We are proud to celebrate the achievements of these women for their contribution within the areas of societal impact, innovation, best place to work and healthcare of the future.
